Rimers of Eldritch, by Pulitzer-Prize-Winning playwright Lanford Wilson
Set in the dried up mining town of Eldritch, somewhere in the mid-west, Rimers is the story of a community torn apart by scandal when a reclusive hermit is murdered by a townswoman who believed she was preventing a rape. Throughout murder trial, presided over by the town preacher, Wilson examines the potential for prejudice and cruelty among the members of a small community. The citizens’ false morality becomes blatantly evident as the trial shines a light on a the desperation and intolerance of a small town in Bible-Belt America.
