Playwright and Redford resident Maureen Paraventi explains the "Dramady" (comedy + drama= Dramady)
"In "The Bucket List of Booze Club," two old friends clash over the future of one's daughter against a backdrop of serious illness and Sandwich Generation challenges. Their struggle threatens to destroy the complex relationships among the women in the "club," who gather regularly to help each other navigate through romantic possibilities, regrets, caring for aging parents and downsized expectations."
Humor and reality are mainstays throughout the themes of "Bucket List." Men and women in all stages of life are appreciated and explored: There's a successful lawyer looking for Mr. Right; a relationship about a Mom and daughter dealing with a cancer diagnosis; a lively grandmother dating a much younger man; A divorced father navigating family dynamics and a stay at home Mom facing an empty nest and marriage issues.
About the playwright:
Redford playwright Maureen Paraventi has the kind of diverse resume that must provide ample material for her writing, at various times working as a morning radio personality, an assistant to a famous movie star (Pierce Brosnan), a website developer, a journalist, and currently a social media manager and web content editor. She has written in many genres: fiction, non-fiction, screen plays, stage plays and songwriting, and her new book The New Old Maid: How Happily Unmarried Women are Defying Stereotypes” is currently under submission to publishers by her literary agent.
Maureen is also an actor, performing with a number of theatre groups in the metro area and landing a fun role as an eccentric hoarder in The Route, a movie shot in Michigan a few years ago.
